Review extract:
You don't have to look much further than the track listing after the album title to see the further commitment to natural ambient that Garden Hall has uptaken. While the first two tracks, Lighthouse and Amongst the Fields are like an entrance into another world with lulling bass and open, moderately desolate spaces, Tuesday brings about the rain and a new texture. Garden Hall isn't like some of his other contemporary counterparts in the dark ambient scene, focusing on the bleak, the desolate, the void. Instead, Garden Hall creates a substantial, lush world with a modestly foreboding edge amongst it. Rather than hellfire and brimstone, he focuses on the beauty of the forthcoming storm – the thunder in the distance as the darkness and the gray loom on the horizon in the distance. It takes a real talent to bring out the beauty in darkness without having to indulge in the complete essence of it all.
